Privacy Policy

This policy explains what themainstreetoperator.com collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. It covers this marketing site and its 2 forms. The Keystone app at app.trykeystone.io runs on a separate database and carries its own policy, which governs everything you enter there.

The 2 forms on this site

The Modernization application. It collects your name, email address, business name, industry, annual revenue range, number of locations, team size, whether you work on-site or remotely, your timeline, your phone number if you choose to give it, your Keystone scores if you have them, and the free-text answer you write. All of it is emailed to our operations inbox so we can evaluate and reply.

The rough-number email on the ads landing page. It collects your email address plus the 3 figures you typed into the calculator on that page: your seller's discretionary earnings, the multiple, and the resulting rough number. It also records which page you were on and where the visit came from. That is sent to you and to our operations inbox in 1 email. It subscribes you to nothing, and no database stores it.

Measurement and advertising

We run 2 Google properties on every page of this site: Google Analytics 4 for usage measurement, and a Google Ads conversion property that attributes paid clicks to what happened after them. The Ads property is advertising measurement, not aggregate analytics, and both assign a persistent pseudonymous identifier to your browser.

Both load in the page head and begin working when the page does. This site does not currently present a consent banner or an opt-out control, so we are telling you plainly rather than implying a choice that is not built. The browser and Google controls under "Your choices" below are the mechanisms that do exist today.

How we attribute a visit

When you arrive, the site reads the referring address your browser sends and checks it against a list of 14 AI assistant addresses: 12 current products and 2 older addresses for products that were renamed. A match records which assistant sent you and the exact address it came from, so we can tell whether assistants cite our writing at all.

This is an inference about the tool you used, not only a count of pages. It is recorded per visit and is not tied to your name unless you also fill in a form. Ordinary search engines are deliberately excluded from that list, so a Google or Bing visit is never classified this way.

When you follow a link from this site to the Keystone app, we append that attribution to the link, including any Google or Meta advertising click identifier the visit arrived with. Both properties are operated by the same business, and the app receives that information so a signup can be connected to the visit that produced it.

What we store on your device

Beyond the cookies the Google properties set, this site writes 3 keys directly in your browser. Two last only until you close the tab: one holds the attribution described above, and one records that an assistant referral has already been counted so a single visit is not counted repeatedly. The third persists and holds only your motion preference, the animation toggle in the footer.

These 3 keys are first-party and are not transmitted anywhere as stored values. Blocking cookies in your browser therefore does not clear them, which is why the cookie setting alone is not the whole answer.

How we use it

We use your email address to reply to you and to send the 1 rough-number email if you asked for it. We use application details to evaluate and respond to your Modernization request. We use measurement data to understand which writing and which channels bring operators here. We do not sell your information.

Who else processes it

We rely on 4 providers, each processing data under its own terms:

• Google Analytics 4: site usage measurement, including the assistant attribution described above.
• Google Ads: conversion measurement for paid clicks.
• Resend: delivery of the 2 forms above and our transactional email.
• Vercel: hosting, content delivery, and standard server request logs.

Your data in the Keystone app

The app at app.trykeystone.io is a separate system with its own policy, and that policy governs your diagnostic answers, your scores, your business figures, and any accounting or field-service account you connect to it. Read it there before connecting anything.

One commitment holds across both: every account is isolated at the database row level, so no other user can read your answers or your numbers. Where the product shows market benchmarks, those are anonymized aggregates, and your individual data is never shown to another user.

How long we keep it

Neither form on this site writes to a database, so what persists is the email in our operations inbox. We keep those messages while we evaluate and respond, and afterward as our record of the engagement. Measurement data is retained by Google under its own retention settings for the 2 properties named above.

Your choices

You can ask us to tell you what we hold, correct it, or delete it. Email contact@themainstreetoperator.com and we will act on the request. There is no mailing list on this site and nothing to unsubscribe from.

For measurement, you have 3 controls that work today: block or clear cookies and site data in your browser settings, install Google's own analytics opt-out browser add-on, and adjust personalization in your Google account's ad settings. None of them costs you access to any part of this site.
